Orange County picked up its widest Michelin recognition yet this year: 23 restaurants across the county earned a Star, a Bib Gourmand, or a Michelin Recommended listing. That is a genuinely different dining county than it was five years ago, and it says something about what buyers are asking for when they ask about a neighborhood now. Restaurants are part of the pitch.
Twenty-three is a lot to work through, so rather than reprint the whole list, here are the entries closest to the coastal corridor we work in daily: Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Costa Mesa.

Rebel Omakase
The only starred restaurant remaining in Orange County, and it is in Laguna. An omakase counter built entirely around fish and shellfish sourced from Japan, with the ocean close enough that the setting does some of the work. If a client is weighing Laguna against another coastal city, this is a genuinely persuasive data point: the county's top culinary honor sits inside walking distance of some of the listings we show.

Selanne Steak Tavern
A steakhouse set inside a 1934 house, with rib-eye, Alaskan halibut, and Patagonian pink prawns against a sunset view. The kind of restaurant that ends up in a listing conversation, because it doubles as evidence of what living in the neighborhood is actually like.
Why this belongs in a real estate conversation. Buyers looking at architecturally significant coastal homes are rarely buying square footage alone. They are buying a version of daily life, and a fifteen-minute radius that includes a Michelin Star is part of that pitch in a way it was not five years ago. Worth having two or three of these on hand the next time a Laguna or Newport listing conversation turns to "what's the neighborhood actually like."
